Course Description

The Upskilling and re-skilling of the Digital Sector with Transversal Skills is a three (3) session course constituting a 12 hours face-to-face learning journey.

This course is split into the following three modules:

Session 1: Powerful Communication – 19th Oct 2023
Session 2: Teamwork – 26th October 2023
Session 3: Critical and Analytical Thinking (including problem solving) – 2nd Nov 2023

Course Structure

This course is split into the following modules

Session 1: Powerful Communication (19th Oct 2023 – 4 hours)

This face-to-face session will help participants understand their own personal power model and their natural way of influencing others. They will learn about themselves but also understand how to make necessary shifts when dealing with different people and different situations. It will also introduce participants to ‘push’ and ‘pull’ personality types, both of which have traits which can be used to influence others. Participants will complete a self-exploration questionnaire in order to identify their strengths and development points, and will also have the opportunity to role play the personality trait which is the most out of their comfort zone. During the sessions participants understand the role of ‘words’, ‘music’ and ‘dance’ to ensure effective interactions.

    Topics included:

  • The personal power model
  • Influencing styles
  • Barriers to communication and your point of stress
  • Internal and external communication
  • Internal networking and alliance building

  • Session 2: Teamwork (26th October 2023 – 4 hours)

This face-to-face session shall focus on teamwork. Team leaders are constantly looking for ways to improve performance and lead their teams effectively. One of the important elements of a team is the level of trust and empowerment so that team members feel comfortable to contribute, take initiative to grow and believe that their goals are recognised and supported. Post covid-19 has made this task a bit more challenging with the introduction of hybrid teams demanding a different approach for leaders to effectively ensure high performing teams.

    Topics included:

  • The different roles within a team
  • Building trust and psychological safety
  • High Performing Teams Model
  • Lencioni assessment: the 5 dysfunctions of a team
  • Managing a hybrid team, tools and processes.

  • Session 3: Critical and Analytical Thinking (including Problem Solving) (2nd Nov 2023 – 4 hours)

The last face-to-face session aims at equipping learners with critical, analytical thinking, and problem solving skills. The World Economic Forum projected complex problem solving as one of the most important skill sets in this decade. Scenario planning is a system behind orchestrating plausible scenarios in an environment where everything is unpredictable, problems are often complex and at the same time, disruptions are unavoidable. In this module, participants are going to learn how to formulate sophisticated problems using scenario thinking and planning while learning design thinking to keep them connected to the importance of empathy to solve our customers’ problems.

Nonetheless, despite our strategic thinking, we know we live in an unpredictable world, and in such cases participants have to develop critical thinking to solve issues in the here and now. It starts with understanding the key concepts of critical thinking, recognising the importance and potential barriers of critical thinking at work.

    Topics included:

  • Understand how the strategic mindset and the critical thinking approach go hand in hand.
  • Understand the principles of critical thinking.
  • Develop components of a strategic plan using different methodologies such as design thinking and scenario thinking approach
  • Advanced Brainstorming Techniques
  • Develop detailed action plans that support your organisation’s strategy
  • Understand what can go wrong in the planning and execution of the strategy and the barriers to critical thinking.
