Management Accounting
Course Description
To develop knowledge and understanding of management accounting techniques to support management in planning, controlling and monitoring performance in a variety of business contexts.
The syllabus for Management Accounting (MA)/FMA, introduces candidates to elements of management accounting which are used to make and support decisions. The syllabus starts by introducing the nature, the source and purpose of management information followed by the statistical techniques used to analyse data. Then the syllabus addresses cost accounting and the costing techniques used in business which are essential for any management accountant. The syllabus then looks at the preparation and use of budgeting and standard costing and variance analysis as essential tools for planning and controlling business activities. The syllabus concludes with an introduction to measuring and monitoring the performance of an organisation.

- The Management Accounting the exam practice consists of exam practice sessions only and a mock exam

Course Structure
The below syllabus is covered during this course:
- The nature, source and purpose of management information
- Data Analysis and statistical techniques
- Cost accounting techniques
- Budgeting
- Standard costings
- Performance measurement
The course is composed of 48 hours of tuition which can be followed face-to-face and/or live online. The course also has a total of 9 hours of face-to-face and/or live online exam practice sessions. This new delivery methodology has been implemented to ensure that you get a comprehensive understanding of the knowledge related to the MA paper while also having the opportunity to get extensive exam practice.
The syllabus will be covered during the tuition lectures. Then the exam practice sessions will be based on exam-style questions. During the revision phase, the focus will be on practicing lots of past paper question. Through the briefing of the questions and the debriefing of the answers one will be revising the syllabus but most importantly develop the necessary exam technique that is needed to pass this exam.

- Exercises to check your level of understanding of different concepts and principles
- High-level questions to consolidate knowledge
What to expect during the revision phase (through past-paper questions):
- Briefing of exam-style questions and explaining how to identify and use the important information to answer each question correctly

Should Attend
Individuals who would like to start the ACCA qualification or those who are doing their ACCA Applied Knowledge exams
Prerequisites
Either holding a fully awarded matriculation certificate or holding a degree in Accounting, Business Studies, or similar.
There are no minimum entry requirements for students opting for the Foundations in Accountancy (FIA).
