Course Description

This course is designed to empower participants to effectively interact with AI tools, particularly Microsoft Copilot, to enhance productivity across the Microsoft 365 applications. The course covers foundational training on effective prompting techniques emphasising responsible AI use and mitigating risks like bias. Participants will be able to explore a full range of Copilot’s capabilities in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook and BizChat.

Through hands-on modules, participants will learn how to use Microsoft Copilot to draft content, analyse data and improve communication all while ensuring ethical responsible use of such AI tools in daily business tasks.

Pre-course work 1
Covers the importance of effective prompting, key techniques for creating good prompts, identifying and avoiding bad prompts, and understanding the risks associated with AI. By completing this pre-course work, participants will gain a foundational understanding of how to interact with AI tools effectively and responsibly.

Session 1 – Introduction to Copilot
This module provides an overview of what Copilot is, the differences between Copilot for M365 and Microsoft Copilot, and how Copilot accesses your data through Microsoft Graph.

Session 2 – Prompting Essentials
This module covers the basics of prompting, including what a prompt is, essential prompting techniques, and strategies for effective initial and follow-up prompts.

Session 3 – Copilot in Excel
This module explores the use of Copilot in Excel, focusing on analyzing data, sorting and filtering data, and adding new columns based on calculations.

Session 4 – Copilot in Word
This module delves into the use of Copilot in Word, including drafting new content, rewriting existing content, and summarizing or asking questions about a document.

Session 5 – Copilot in PowerPoint
This module focuses on using Copilot in PowerPoint to draft new presentations, summarize or ask questions, modify existing presentations, and organize your presentation.

Session 6 – Copilot in Teams
This module covers the use of Copilot in Teams, including using Copilot in Teams chat and channels, and during Teams meetings.

Session 7 – Copilot in Outlook
This module explores the use of Copilot in Outlook, focusing on drafting emails, receiving email coaching, summarizing emails, and chatting with Copilot in Outlook.

Session 8 – Copilot BizChat
This module delves into the use of Copilot in BizChat, including finding information in M365 applications, drafting content, and brainstorming ideas.
